We recently performed a Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning on a Mazda CX-5 in Ishikawa Prefecture.
Vehicle Specifications:
Engine: SKYACTIV-D (SH-VPTS) / 2,188cc Water-cooled Inline 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve Diesel Turbo
Mileage: Approximately 144,500 km
Performance: Max Output 175ps (129kW) / 4,500rpm, Max Torque 42.8kg・m (420N・m) / 2,000rpm
This model is a testament to Mazda’s SKYACTIV technology, offering powerful low-end torque characteristic of a diesel. Paired with the 6-speed SKYACTIV-DRIVE transmission, it delivers power efficiently to the road while maintaining impressive fuel economy.
The Issue: The owner reported intermittent system alerts while driving (notably, these were not DPF or engine check lamps). Although the dealership confirmed the history of these alerts, the exact cause remained unidentified. Given the high mileage, the dealer suggested a carbon cleaning as a potential preventative measure, leading the customer to our shop. After our service, the vehicle is scheduled for a follow-up inspection at the dealership.
The Service: In addition to the hydrogen cleaning, we also performed a treatment with Deepine Multi Cleaner. This is highly effective for high-mileage vehicles to prevent clogging in the fuel system—from the tank to the injector tips—as well as the DPF and EGR systems. We measured the precise dosage and added it to the fuel tank.
Procedure: After completing pre-service checks—including engine sound, vibration, and exhaust condition—we began the hydrogen gas injection. We started at a rate of 100ml/h, carefully monitoring the engine's response before gradually increasing the hydrogen flow to the optimal level.

【 Mid-Service Impressions 】
To ensure the Deepine Multi Cleaner circulated quickly through the system, we performed several engine revs. At this stage, we observed a slight fluctuation in the tachometer needle as it dropped back down from 2,000 rpm.
The Cleaning Process & Observations:
5 Minutes In: A slight moisture began to appear at the exhaust tip. Testing the exhaust pressure revealed it was somewhat weak, with a noticeable "pulse" or unevenness in the flow. We proceeded with the treatment to see how these symptoms would improve.
10 Minutes In: Visible steam started emerging from the exhaust.
15 Minutes In: Water droplets began forming at the tailpipe, a clear sign that the hydrogen was reacting with and breaking down the carbon deposits.
20 Minutes In: A noticeable reduction in engine noise and vibration. At this point, we stabilized the hydrogen flow to maintain the cleaning efficiency.
45 Minutes In: The exhaust flow became significantly smoother compared to the start of the session. The exhaust temperature had risen, indicating that the combustion of accumulated carbon was progressing well.
Verified Improvements: We tested the throttle response again. The needle fluctuation previously seen when dropping from 2,000 rpm had vanished; the tachometer now returned to idle smoothly and consistently.
Furthermore, the initial weakness and "pulse" in the exhaust flow were gone. The pressure felt strong and steady.
50 Minutes In: The moisture at the exhaust tip began to dry up, signifying the completion of the main cleaning phase.
60 Minutes In: After a full hour of treatment, we confirmed that the idling, engine acoustics, and vibration were all perfectly stable. The exhaust output was clean and consistent.

Product Spotlight: Deepine Multi Cleaner
As shown in the technical data images above, the Deepine Multi Cleaner used in this service is specifically engineered to address the "Achilles' heel" of clean diesel engines. It is highly effective at cleaning and protecting critical components, including:
Fuel Lines & Injectors
DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)
EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) System
EGR Cooler
While it carries a slightly premium price tag, a single bottle contains enough capacity for two full treatments on standard passenger vehicles. Investing in this cleaner is a proactive way to prevent costly troubles and significantly suppress the accumulation of soot and clogs in the DPF system.
【 Customer Feedback: One Week After Service 】
We received an update from the owner one week after the treatment:
No More System Alarms: The frequent system alerts have completely stopped. During a recent oil change at the dealership, the mechanics noted that previous intermittent DPF accumulation warnings likely triggered the system-wide alarms. They confirmed that our carbon cleaning effectively cleared the deposits in the engine and DPF, resolving the root cause.
Engine Performance: The engine is running exceptionally well.
Improved Response: Throttle response has sharpened, making the car much easier and more enjoyable to drive.
Surprising Fuel Economy: The owner reported a staggering 4km/L improvement in fuel efficiency during their daily commute!
Peace of Mind: "I can finally drive with total confidence now. Thank you!"
Expert Insight: Maintaining Your SKYACTIV-D Engine
We frequently receive inquiries regarding Mazda’s SKYACTIV-D engines, particularly from owners whose vehicles have surpassed the 70,000km mark. At this mileage, concerns about DPF and injector health become very common.
The Reality of Clean Diesel Engines: To meet strict emissions standards, modern diesel engines are equipped with DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) systems. While these are essential for the environment, they can inadvertently lower exhaust efficiency and increase the thermal load on the engine over time.
Our Solution: At our shop, we use Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning to remove carbon from the combustion chambers. This process:
Restores combustion and exhaust efficiency.
Prevents soot (carbon) from flowing downstream into sensitive components.
For those concerned about fuel lines, injectors, DPF, or EGR health, we strongly recommend a simultaneous treatment with our Multi Cleaner.
Prevention is Better (and Cheaper) than Cure: Once a DPF warning light stays on and the filter is completely clogged, the effectiveness of hydrogen cleaning or chemical cleaners drops significantly. Repairing or replacing DPFs, EGRs, or injectors can be extremely expensive.
Regular maintenance is the key to keeping your car happy. Clean diesels offer fantastic torque, great fuel economy, and lower fuel costs—making them very "wallet-friendly" as long as they are cared for.
At e-BLUE, we treat every vehicle with precision, monitoring the engine's condition throughout the process to ensure the highest possible service quality.
Keep your diesel running strong for years to come. We look forward to serving you!
