We recently performed a Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning service on a Suzuki Swift (K12B engine) for a customer in Toyama Prefecture.
Current Mileage: Approx. 184,450 km
Engine Specs: K12B / 1,242 cc Water-cooled In-line 4-cylinder DOHC 16-Valve Engine
Max Output: 91 PS (67 kW) / 6,000 rpm
Max Torque: 12.0 kg·m (118 N·m) / 4,800 rpm
Service Location & Purpose:
This service was conducted on-site at TMS2026. Crossing the 184,000 km mark, the treatment was requested as a high-mileage engine refresh to keep the compact 4-cylinder engine running smoothly and extend its operational life.
Simultaneous Fuel System Treatment:
To prevent future fuel delivery and injector issues, we also performed a simultaneous fuel system treatment using FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER. This cleans the entire fuel line network from the fuel tank all the way to the injector tips. The cleaner was added directly into the fuel tank prior to starting the hydrogen injection process.
Service Procedure:
After completing initial inspection checks—including engine noise, physical vibration, and tailpipe exhaust pressure—we began injecting hydrogen gas into the air intake.
We started at an initial flow rate of 100 L/h and gradually increased the hydrogen volume while carefully monitoring the engine's real-time condition.

In-Service Impressions & Observations ↓↓↓
To ensure the FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER circulated thoroughly throughout the fuel lines, we revved the accelerator a few times. When checking the tachometer, we noticed a subtle needle flutter as the RPMs dropped below 2,500 rpm.
5 Minutes In: Placing a hand near the muffler outlet revealed a bit of moisture. Exhaust pressure was slightly weak, with a slight wave (unsteadiness) in the discharge flow. We proceeded while fine-tuning the hydrogen rate to monitor if these symptoms would resolve.
10 Minutes In: Visible water vapor started coming out of the tailpipe.
15 Minutes In: Engine noise and physical vibration began to noticeably subside. At this stage, we locked in the hydrogen injection rate to maintain steady treatment.
45 Minutes In: Rechecking the tailpipe confirmed that the earlier weak pressure and flow unsteadiness had completely resolved into a smooth exhaust output. We revved the accelerator again to re-check the tachometer—the initial needle flutter had cleared up, returning to smooth, precise operation.
55 Minutes In: Engine noise and vibration became significantly quieter. Checking the muffler again, the exhaust moisture was drying up, indicating optimized combustion.
60 Minutes In: After 60 minutes of controlled hydrogen treatment, the engine demonstrated perfectly stable idling, quiet operation, and consistent exhaust discharge. The service was successfully completed!
