We recently had the pleasure of performing a professional Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning service on a Toyota GR Yaris in Saitama Prefecture.

Vehicle Profile: The Rally-Bred Beast

  • Engine: G16E-GTS (1,618cc Inline-3 Intercooled Turbo)

  • Mileage: Approx. 24,300 km

  • Performance: Max Output 272ps (200kW) / Max Torque 370N·m

  • Technology: D-4ST (Direct-injection 4-stroke gasoline engine Superior version with Turbo)

The G16E-GTS is Toyota’s masterpiece—a lightweight, high-spec power unit famous for its dominance in the WRC and All-Japan Rally Championship. Because this engine utilizes the advanced D-4ST system (combining direct and port injection), maintaining internal cleanliness is vital for consistent performance.

Service Event: 2026 GR Yaris Owners Meeting

This specific service was conducted during the "2026 GR Yaris Owners Meeting at Jibusaka Highlands Ski Resort." The owner’s primary goal was a proactive engine refresh to ensure long-term reliability and peak efficiency.

Dual-Action Cleaning: Hydrogen Gas & Fuel System Care

Since the G16E-GTS features direct injection, it is susceptible to carbon buildup. To prevent future fuel line issues and optimize the spray pattern, we performed a dual-action cleaning:

  1. Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning: Removing carbon deposits from the combustion chamber and exhaust path.

  2. Fuel System Cleaner: We added our specialized FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER to the tank to deep-clean everything from the fuel lines to the injector tips simultaneously.

The Technical Process

After a thorough pre-inspection of engine acoustics, vibration levels, and exhaust pressure, we began the hydrogen gas injection.

  • Initial Stage: We started at a flow rate of 100ℓ/h.

  • Monitoring: While closely observing the engine's real-time response, we gradually increased the hydrogen volume to safely maximize the cleaning effect.

[ On-Site Service Impressions: Real-Time Engine Transformation ]

To ensure the FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER thoroughly permeated the fuel lines and reached the injector tips, we performed several controlled throttle snaps. The idle remained stable, and the diagnostic check showed no issues.

  • 5 Minutes In: Initial signs of moisture began to appear at the exhaust tip. While the exhaust pressure and flow were consistent, this indicated the hydrogen was already beginning to react with internal carbon deposits.

  • 10 Minutes In: Visible water vapor started emitting from the muffler—a clear sign of the chemical cleaning process successfully converting carbon into gas and moisture.

  • 20 Minutes In: A noticeable shift occurred. Both engine noise and vibrations were significantly reduced. At this stage, we locked in the hydrogen flow rate to maintain deep-cleaning efficiency.

  • 40 Minutes In: The exhaust flow felt noticeably smoother against the hand. We tested the throttle once more; the RPM needle returned to idle much more fluidly than before, indicating reduced internal friction and improved air-flow response.

  • 50 Minutes In: The moisture at the exhaust tip began to dry up, signaling that the bulk of the loose carbon had been cleared. We continued fine-tuning the hydrogen levels for the final phase.

  • 60 Minutes (Completion): Total stabilization achieved. The engine exhibited a whisper-quiet idle, minimal vibration, and a perfectly consistent exhaust note. The transformation was complete.
