Customer's Car: We recently had the pleasure of performing a Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning service on a Suzuki Alto Turbo RS (R06A Engine) here in Ishikawa Prefecture!

The current mileage on this machine is an impressive 251,190 kilometers.

Under the hood is Suzuki’s legendary R06A engine—a 658cc water-cooled, in-line 3-cylinder DOHC 12-valve with intake VVT and an intercooled turbocharger. It pumps out a punchy max output of 64 ps (47 kW) at 6,000 rpm and a max torque of 10.0 kg·m (98 N·m) at 3,000 rpm.

Why the Customer Chose Carbon Cleaning: This is actually a repeat customer who came back after their service last year! Recently, the owner noticed the engine was starting to feel a bit heavy and sluggish. To restore that lost performance and ensure long-term reliability for this high-mileage vehicle, they decided it was time for an engine refresh session.

The Hydrogen Cleaning Process: Before starting, we thoroughly checked the engine sound, vibrations, and exhaust pressure from the muffler. Once all pre-checks and preparations were complete, we began injecting the hydrogen gas.

We started at a cautious flow rate of 100 L/h, carefully monitoring the engine’s condition and behavior. As the engine responded well, we gradually increased the hydrogen intake volume to maximize the carbon removal efficiency.

5 Minutes into the Service: Just five minutes after starting the hydrogen injection, the exhaust gas began to feel slightly damp—a clear initial sign that the carbon deposits were starting to react. When I placed my hand near the muffler tip to check the exhaust pressure, the pressure itself felt sufficient, but I noticed a slight, intermittent disruption in the exhaust flow rhythm. I briefly pressed the accelerator pedal to check the idling gauge, and everything appeared within the normal range. We will continue to closely monitor whether this minor flow disruption improves as the treatment progresses, while gradually increasing the hydrogen gas intake.

10 Minutes into the Service: Ten minutes in, visible water vapor (steam) started to exit the exhaust pipe. This indicates that the hydrogen is effectively binding with the carbon buildup inside the combustion chambers, turning it into moisture. We proceeded with the cleaning while carefully adjusting the hydrogen injection volume.

15 Minutes into the Service: By the 15-minute mark, water droplets were actively dripping from the exhaust tip. Concurrently, both the engine noise and physical vibrations began to noticeably quiet down and smooth out. Seeing the engine stabilize beautifully at this stage, we locked the hydrogen injection rate at its optimal level.

35 Minutes into the Service: Thirty-five minutes after the start, I rechecked the exhaust pressure by hand at the muffler exit. The slight disruption in the flow rhythm that I had noticed at the beginning was completely gone! The exhaust gas was now flowing out in a smooth, continuous, and steady stream. I blipped the throttle a few times to test the responsiveness and watch the idling gauge. The needle now dropped back down to its idle position much more smoothly and cleanly than before. From here, we made some final fine-tuning adjustments to the hydrogen delivery.

50 Minutes into the Service (Completion): Fifty minutes into the session, we verified that the engine's idling status, acoustic profile, and exhaust flow were all perfectly stable and consistent. Having achieved excellent results across all checkmarks, we officially wrapped up the hydrogen carbon cleaning service!
