We recently had the pleasure of performing our specialized Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning service for a customer's Toyota HiAce Van here in Toyama Prefecture.

This tough van currently has an impressive 341,960 km on the odometer! The legendary 5L engine is renowned worldwide for its bulletproof reliability, but at this mileage, minimizing internal carbon buildup is crucial for sustaining its health. This treatment was carried out as a complete engine refresh focused on long-term preventative maintenance and preserving the vehicle's longevity.

This project came to fruition after the owner initially reached out to us via Instagram. To ensure the absolute best results for this high-mileage engine, we initiated the hydrogen gas injection at a conservative rate of 100 L/h. By closely monitoring the engine’s real-time condition and subtle responses, we gradually and safely increased the hydrogen flow rate to maximize cleaning efficiency.

5 Minutes into the Service: Placing a hand near the exhaust tailpipe reveals a slight hint of moisture. The overall exhaust pressure feels a bit weak, and there is a subtle, intermittent hesitation or break in the exhaust flow. To look into this further, we rev the engine and inspect the tachometer (RPM gauge). As the needle drops back down from 2,500 RPM, we notice occasional stumbles and rough fluctuations. We continue our precision adjustments to see how well these high-mileage symptoms will improve, tweaking the hydrogen delivery rate incrementally while monitoring the engine's real-time response.
10 Minutes in: Visible water vapor begins to emerge from the tailpipe—a great sign that the hydrogen is successfully bonding with internal carbon deposits and clearing them out as steam.
20 Minutes in: A noticeable reduction in both engine noise and cabin vibration becomes apparent. Having dialed in the optimal sweet spot for this specific engine's condition, we lock in the hydrogen flow rate to maintain this stable cleaning phase.
A Testament to Good Maintenance: Considering this van has over 340,000 km, the engine is responding incredibly well. When we asked the owner about its history, they mentioned they regularly use fuel system additives. That diligent, proactive maintenance is exactly what is keeping this legendary diesel in such great shape!
40 Minutes in: Checking the exhaust tailpipe again, the weak pressure and intermittent flow hesitation observed at the beginning have completely vanished. The exhaust gas is now discharging with a strong, perfectly smooth, and consistent flow. Testing the throttle once more to check the tachometer, the needle now drops effortlessly and smoothly down from 2,500 RPM to idle, with absolutely none of the previous rough shaking. We continue the treatment with fine-tuned adjustments.
55 Minutes in: The moisture at the exhaust tip is beginning to dry up, indicating that the bulk of the internal soot and carbon restrictions have been successfully evacuated. We push forward into the final stretch of the process.
65 Minutes in: After 65 minutes of custom-tailored hydrogen delivery, we confirmed that the engine has completely stabilized. The idle is perfectly smooth, engine noise and vibrations are deeply minimized, and the exhaust flow is consistent and healthy. With these excellent results achieved, we officially completed the treatment.
