We recently performed a hydrogen gas carbon cleaning service on a client’s heavy machinery in Toyama Prefecture. A big thank you to our valued client, Sugimasa Trading Co., Ltd., for choosing our services!
[Machine Specifications & Status]
Model: CAT 308E2CR Mini Excavator
Engine: CAT 3.3L 4-stroke, water-cooled, inline 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine (C3.3B)
Max Output: 48.1 kW (65.4 ps) / 2,000 rpm
Current Hour Meter: Approx. 2,634.5 hours
The Challenge: DPF Warning Light On
The client requested our service because the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) warning light was on, and they wanted to see if hydrogen carbon cleaning could resolve the issue.
To maximize the results, we also performed a simultaneous treatment using D-PINE Multi Cleaner. This premium fuel additive is highly effective for preventive maintenance, cleaning everything from the fuel tank to the injector tips, and preventing future clogging in the DPF and EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) systems.
Important Notice Regarding Warning Lights: Before starting, we explained to the client that once the DPF or Engine Check light turns on, the effectiveness of the cleaning can vary significantly depending on the severity of the blockage. We can only know the final outcome after completion. The client kindly understood and gave us the green light to proceed. (Please note: If warning lights are already active, full recovery becomes more challenging, which is why preventive cleaning is highly recommended.)
The Cleaning Process
Fuel Treatment: We carefully measured the required amount of D-PINE Multi Cleaner and added it directly into the fuel tank.
Pre-Inspection: We checked the engine sound, vibration levels, and exhaust before beginning.
Hydrogen Gas Injection: We started injecting hydrogen gas at a cautious rate of 100 mL/h. As we closely monitored the engine's behavior and stability, we gradually increased the hydrogen flow rate to ensure deep carbon removal.

🔍 [During the Process] Live Service Impressions
5 Minutes into the Cleaning: We placed a hand near the muffler exhaust port and felt a slight amount of moisture. When checking the exhaust flow, the pressure felt slightly weak, and the stream felt somewhat intermittent. We proceeded with the cleaning while monitoring whether these symptoms would improve. We carefully checked the engine condition while making minor adjustments to the hydrogen gas intake.
10 Minutes into the Cleaning: Water vapor (steam) became visibly noticeable coming from the exhaust pipe. This is a positive sign that the hydrogen is bonding with the carbon inside the engine.
20 Minutes into the Cleaning: A noticeable change occurred—the engine sound became quieter, and engine vibrations were significantly reduced. At this point, we locked the hydrogen input volume to maintain this optimal cleaning state.
When re-checking the exhaust port, the weak pressure and intermittent flow observed at the start had improved drastically. The exhaust temperature rose, indicating that the internal carbon burning process was successfully underway. We continued the treatment while making final fine-tuning adjustments to the hydrogen levels.
50 Minutes into the Cleaning: The moisture around the exhaust port began to dry up, signaling that the deep internal cleaning process was reaching its final phase.
60 Minutes into the Cleaning (Completion): After a full hour, we verified that the engine was idling perfectly. The engine sound, vibration levels, and overall exhaust flow had completely stabilized. The service was successfully concluded at this point.

[Product Focus: D-PINE Multi Cleaner]
As you can see from the image materials provided above, the D-PINE Multi Cleaner used in this service is specifically designed to target the weak points of modern clean diesel engines. It delivers exceptional preventative effects for the entire fuel line (including injectors), DPF, EGR, and EGR coolers.
While it comes with a slightly higher price tag, a single bottle contains enough capacity for two complete treatments in standard-sized passenger vehicles. This makes it an incredibly cost-effective investment for suppressing soot accumulation and preventing major DPF clogging troubles before they start.
📊 [Post-Cleaning Results] Final Review & Troubleshooting
After completing the hydrogen cleaning, the DPF warning light remained on. To address this, we used a diagnostic scan tool to check the system error codes. The decision was made to perform a forced DPF regeneration (manual burn) to clear the remaining soot and monitor the vehicle's progress moving forward.
The Reality of Modern Diesel Engines: DPF & EGR Maintenance
Modern diesel engines are equipped with DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) systems to meet strict emissions regulations. Furthermore, many recent models feature EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) systems to improve fuel efficiency and optimize exhaust gas utilization.
However, these systems naturally restrict exhaust efficiency, which tends to put a higher thermal and physical load on the engine over time.
How Our Service Helps: Our specialized Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning removes accumulated carbon deposits directly from the combustion chamber. By restoring combustion and exhaust efficiency, it prevents heavy soot (carbon) from traveling downstream into critical components.
For those concerned about the fuel line (including injectors), DPF, and EGR systems, we highly recommend a simultaneous treatment with our Multi Cleaner additive.
Proactive Maintenance Saves Money
Once the DPF warning light turns on and a severe blockage occurs, it becomes much harder for hydrogen gas cleaning or fuel additives to deliver their full effects.
Replacing or repairing clogged DPFs, EGR valves, or faulty fuel injectors is incredibly expensive. We strongly urge heavy machinery owners to prioritize preventive maintenance before these costly failures happen. Regular upkeep keeps your machinery running smoothly and extends its lifespan!
