Hydrogen Carbon Cleaning Performed on Mitsubishi Delica D:5 (4N14 Engine) in Ishikawa

Customer’s Car Service Record: Hydrogen Carbon Cleaning on a Mitsubishi Delica D:5 (4N14 Engine) in Ishikawa Prefecture!


We recently had the pleasure of performing a hydrogen gas carbon cleaning service on a customer's Mitsubishi Delica D:5 right here in Ishikawa Prefecture.

Here are the specs for this vehicle:


  • Current Odometer Reading: Approx. 341,960 km

  • Engine Type: 4N14 / 2,267cc Inline 4-Cylinder DOHC 16-Valve Intercooled Turbo Diesel

  • Max Output: 148 ps (109 kW) / 3,500 rpm

  • Max Torque: 36.7 kg·m (360 N·m) / 1,500–2,750 rpm


This was actually a repeat customer who previously had our hydrogen carbon cleaning done two years ago!

Recently, the owner noticed occasional knocking-like symptoms and a bit of black smoke from the exhaust. Wanting to keep this great van running smoothly for years to come, they decided to bring it in for another engine refresh treatment.


Dual Treatment for Maximum Protection: Adding D-PINE Multi-Cleaner

To extend the lifespan of both the fuel injectors and the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), we also applied D-PINE Multi-Cleaner—an all-in-one additive effective for both components. We began by pouring the D-PINE Multi-Cleaner directly into the fuel tank.

Starting the Hydrogen Gas Injection Process

After checking the baseline engine noise, vibration, and exhaust pressure, we set up the equipment and began feeding hydrogen gas into the engine intake.


We started at a conservative flow rate of 100 mL/h, monitoring the engine's real-time condition as we gradually increased the hydrogen volume.

Service Impressions (During the Treatment)


[5 Minutes In] Placing a hand near the exhaust pipe, we noticed slight moisture beginning to form. However, the exhaust pressure was somewhat weak, and the exhaust airflow felt inconsistent. We revved the engine to check the tachometer's response. As the engine speed dropped back down from 2,500 rpm, noticeable fluctuations in the needle were observed. Visible black smoke was also prominent when the engine was revved. We continued the treatment while carefully adjusting the hydrogen volume to monitor if these symptoms would improve.


[10 Minutes In] Water vapor started visibly exiting from the exhaust tip—a great sign that the carbon cleaning process was actively working.


[20 Minutes In] Engine noise and vibration significantly reduced. Revving the engine again showed that black smoke was still somewhat noticeable, so we locked in the current hydrogen injection rate to let the treatment settle in.


[40 Minutes In] Checking the exhaust again, the previously weak and uneven exhaust pressure had noticeably smoothed out. Exhaust flow was now much stronger and consistent. Testing the tachometer once more, the needle hesitation previously seen when dropping from 2,500 rpm had completely disappeared, returning to idle smoothly. The black smoke had also diminished significantly.


[55 Minutes In] Moisture at the exhaust tip began to dry up, indicating a cleaner combustion chamber. We fine-tuned the hydrogen injection flow rate and kept the process running.


[65 Minutes In (Final Inspection)] At the 65-minute mark, the engine reached optimal stability. Engine idle, noise, vibration, and exhaust flow were all smooth and consistent. The black smoke was almost completely eliminated. Seeing these excellent results, we officially completed the hydrogen gas carbon cleaning service.

Product Focus: D-PINE MULTI CLEANER

As shown in the reference image below, the D-PINE MULTI CLEANER used in this service is highly effective for treating the most notorious weak points of clean diesel engines: the fuel lines (including injectors), DPF, EGR system, and the EGR cooler.

While it comes with a slightly premium price tag, a single bottle contains enough capacity for two complete treatments in standard-sized passenger vehicles. This makes it an incredibly cost-effective solution for preventing carbon clogging and sudden component failures.

Note: While a road test wasn't performed immediately after the service, the customer personally inspected the vehicle and verified the improvements in both engine performance and exhaust clarity.


  • Result: The concerning black smoke was completely gone, and the engine was running noticeably smoother and more quietly.
