Customer’s Car Feature: Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning for a Custom KF-Engine Bolt-On Turbo & FR Drift Daihatsu Mira in Toyama!
We recently had the pleasure of performing our Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning service on a truly unique machine here in Toyama.
The current mileage on this vehicle is approximately 120,260 km.
Under the hood is Daihatsu’s famous KF engine—a 658cc liquid-cooled inline 3-cylinder DOHC 12-valve powerhouse. For reference, here are the stock factory specifications:
Maximum Output: 58 ps (43 kW) / 7200 rpm
Maximum Torque: 6.6 kg·m (65 N·m) / 4000 rpm
However, those are just the stock numbers! This particular vehicle features a bolt-on turbo kit mated to the KF engine, meaning it is putting out significantly more horsepower and torque than factory settings.
But the modifications don't stop there... This incredible car has been converted from FF (Front-Wheel Drive) to FR (Front-Engine, Rear-Wheel Drive) layout, completely built for drifting! We got to see it in action, and its performance on the track is absolutely mind-blowing.
This service was carried out during the [2026 Oyasumidokoro Hiiragi & Owara Circuit Event]. The main goal of this hydrogen carbon cleaning session was an engine refresh to ensure the longevity and peak performance of this custom build for years to come.
We started the process with a flow rate of 100 L/h, carefully monitoring the engine's condition before gradually increasing the hydrogen output.

1.5 Minutes In: Checking the Exhaust Flow:Initial Check。
Just 5 minutes into the hydrogen cleaning, we held a hand up to the exhaust tip and could already feel a slight hint of moisture. While the exhaust pressure was perfectly fine, we noticed a bit of an uneven wave/pulse in the exhaust flow. We revved the engine once to check the idle gauge, which was moving normally. From here, we began gradually adjusting the hydrogen input while monitoring the engine's response.
2.10 Minutes In: Moisture Begins to Clear:Water Vapor Detected。
Ten minutes into the process, visible water vapor started coming out of the exhaust tailpipe. This is a great sign that the hydrogen is successfully bonding with the carbon deposits and cleaning the combustion chamber.
3.20 Minutes In: Smoother Engine Performance:Vibration Reduction。
Twenty minutes into the service, we noticed a clear drop in engine noise and cabin vibration. The KF engine was already running noticeably smoother. Seeing this positive response, we locked in the hydrogen flow rate to maintain this optimal cleaning state.
4.35 Minutes In: Improved Exhaust Flow & Response:Pulse Flattened。
At the 35-minute mark, we checked the exhaust tip again. The uneven flow/wave we noticed at the beginning was completely gone—the exhaust was now releasing in a perfectly smooth, consistent stream. We revved the engine again to check the idle gauge. The needle now dropped back down to idle much more smoothly and quickly compared to when we started. We continued the treatment while fine-tuning the hydrogen input.
5.45 Minutes In: Final Tuning Stage:Drying Out。
Forty-five minutes in, the moisture at the exhaust tip began to dry up, signaling that the heavy carbon buildup was mostly cleared out. We kept adjusting the hydrogen input for the final stretch.
6.50 Minutes In: Service Complete:Optimal Baseline Reached。
After 50 minutes of continuous treatment, we did a final inspection. The engine idle was perfectly stable, engine noise and vibration were significantly reduced, and the exhaust flow was completely steady. With the engine fully refreshed, we officially completed the service.

The customer shared some fantastic feedback after the drive home:
"The throttle response is significantly sharper, and the engine feels much more eager to pull through the rev range."
"I didn't expect such a massive transformation—this service is absolutely worth it."
We are thrilled to hear that the owner felt such a tangible difference.
Many drivers underestimate how much carbon buildup can negatively impact an engine's condition and performance. By removing carbon deposits from the intake system, the top of the pistons, and—most importantly—the exhaust valves, we also effectively clear out much of the soot within the muffler system. This significantly improves overall exhaust flow efficiency.
When exhaust efficiency increases, the engine gains a stronger intake pull, bringing in more fresh air. This leads to better combustion efficiency, making it easier for the engine to produce more power and torque.
It is important to note that we aren't installing aftermarket tuning parts; we are simply cleaning the engine to unlock its original, intended potential. When you refresh your engine, your car will thank you with a much more lively and responsive drive.
Watching this car drift on the track was an absolute blast—even with its compact body, it packed such an intense and impressive punch!
Thank you so much for choosing us for this service. If you have any questions or need further support, please don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to seeing you and your Mira again!
