Hydrogen Carbon Cleaning for Toyota HiAce (1KD-FTV) in Ishikawa

We recently had the pleasure of performing a Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning service on a customer's Toyota HiAce here in Ishikawa, Japan.
The vehicle’s current mileage stands at approximately 93,800 km.
This HiAce is equipped with the renowned 1KD-FTV model—a 3,000cc, water-cooled, inline 4-cylinder, DOHC turbo engine featuring an electronically controlled common-rail direct injection system. Delivering a maximum output of 106 kW (144 PS) at 3,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 300 Nm (30.6 kg・m) across a flat 1,200 to 3,200 rpm range, this powerhouse provides an excellent balance of power and torque, effortlessly hauling heavy cargo with plenty of low-end grunt.
On this visit, the owner noted that the engine's responsiveness and overall power output felt somewhat sluggish lately. Eager to preserve their vehicle for years to come and implement proactive preventive maintenance, they opted for our premium engine refresh service.
Furthermore, to prevent common 1KD-FTV common-rail injector issues and extend the lifespan of the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), we simultaneously administered DEEPINE MULTI CLEANER—a specialized dual-action additive highly effective for both components.
For the Toyota HiAce, the air filter housing is accessed from underneath the front bumper. We safely got under the vehicle to inspect the air filter and check for any accumulated debris or dirt inside the housing. Next, we poured the DEEPINE MULTI CLEANER directly into the fuel tank.
After completing our thorough preliminary diagnostics—checking the baseline engine sound, vibrations, and exhaust pressure from the tailpipe—we were fully prepared to begin the hydrogen gas introduction process.
We initiated the flow at a conservative rate of 100 ml/h, carefully monitoring the engine’s real-time response, and will gradually scale up the hydrogen gas input volume based on its running condition.

To ensure the DEEPINE MULTI CLEANER circulates quickly through the fuel system, we revved the engine a few times. At this point, a slight amount of black smoke was visible from the exhaust, and the vehicle body shook slightly due to engine vibrations.
Listening closely to the engine sound, we could hear an occasional high-pitched metallic clanking ("pinging") noise. This symptom is often caused by clogged or dirty fuel injectors, common in high-mileage common-rail diesel engines.
We closely monitored these symptoms as we proceeded with the treatment, gradually increasing the hydrogen gas flow rate while carefully checking the engine’s behavior.
5 Minutes into the Service: The exhaust began to feel slightly damp. Testing the exhaust pressure by placing a hand over the tailpipe showed no major issues, though there was a slight pulse or irregularity in the exhaust flow.
10 Minutes into the Service: A faint trace of water vapor started emitting from the exhaust pipe. We continued adjusting the hydrogen volume based on these signs.
25 Minutes into the Service: The rough engine idle, noise, and vibrations began to visibly subside. Satisfied with the progression, we locked in the hydrogen gas flow rate at this optimal level.
45 Minutes into the Service: We revved the engine again to evaluate the progress. The slight body shake from the engine vibration noticed at the start was completely gone! Additionally, the sharp clanking noise from the engine had vanished. Testing the exhaust flow by hand revealed that the early pulse/irregularity had cleared up, resulting in a smooth, steady exhaust stream. From here, we fine-tuned the hydrogen flow to finish up.
50 Minutes into the Service: Checking the tailpipe, the exhaust had turned dry, signaling that complete and efficient combustion was successfully taking place inside the cylinders.
65 Minutes into the Service: The engine idle, acoustic tone, and exhaust emission patterns had all fully stabilized. With the carbon deposits successfully removed and the engine running beautifully, we concluded the service.

As shown in the reference image below, the DEEPINE MULTI CLEANER used in this service is highly effective for cleaning the fuel line, fuel injectors, DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), EGR, and EGR cooler—all of which are notorious weak points in modern clean diesel engines.
While it comes with a slightly premium price tag, one bottle contains enough volume for two full treatments in standard-sized passenger vehicles. This makes it an incredibly cost-effective solution for preventing carbon buildup and preventing DPF clogging.
Replacing or repairing diesel fuel injectors and DPF systems can be notoriously expensive, often resulting in staggering repair bills. To avoid these high-cost breakdowns, we highly recommend incorporating this cleaner into your regular vehicle maintenance routine.
