We recently performed a complete Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning service on a customer's Toyota HiAce here in Ishikawa Prefecture!
Current Mileage: Approx. 355,800 km
Engine Type: 1KD-FTV (3,000cc Water-Cooled Inline 4-Cylinder DOHC Turbo, Electronically Controlled Common Rail Direct Injection)

The Goal: Engine Longevity & Preventive Maintenance
This particular service was requested while the vehicle was in for routine maintenance at Morishita Jidosha.
The owner loves this HiAce and wants to keep it running smoothly for many more years. With over 350k km on the odometer, this engine refresh is the perfect preventive measure.
To prevent common injector issues and extend the lifespan of the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), we also applied D-PINE MULTI CLEANER, a high-performance additive that effectively treats both components simultaneously.
Step-by-Step Service & Hydrogen Injection
On the Toyota HiAce, the air filter case is accessed from underneath the front bumper. We got under the vehicle to thoroughly inspect the air filter and check for any dirt build-up inside the housing.
After checking the engine sound, vibrations, exhaust pressure, and completing all pre-service prep, we began injecting the hydrogen gas.
We started carefully at a flow rate of 100 L/h, monitoring the engine’s condition closely before gradually increasing the hydrogen volume to ensure a safe and deep clean.

To ensure the D-PINE MULTI CLEANER spread quickly through the fuel system, we revved the engine a few times. At first, the engine's vibrations caused the vehicle's body to shake slightly. Knowing this could be a sign of dirty or clogged fuel injectors, we proceeded with the cleaning process while carefully monitoring the engine's live status.
5 Minutes In: The exhaust started becoming slightly damp, indicating that the carbon-cleaning process was beginning to take effect. When checking the exhaust pressure by placing a hand near the tailpipe, the pressure felt noticeably weak, and the airflow was uneven and intermittent. We continued the treatment to see how much we could improve these symptoms.
10 Minutes In: Water vapor began exiting the tailpipe—a classic sign that the hydrogen gas was successfully bonding with the carbon deposits and burning them off as steam. We fine-tuned the hydrogen flow rate and continued.
25 Minutes In: A major shift occurred. Both the engine noise and the harsh vibrations started to noticeably quiet down. At this optimal point, we locked in the hydrogen injection rate.
40 Minutes In: We revved the engine a few more times to check the progress. The slight body shake caused by engine vibration at the start of the service was completely gone! Furthermore, when checking the tailpipe again, the weak and intermittent exhaust pressure had dramatically improved—the exhaust flow was now smooth, consistent, and strong. From here, we adjusted the hydrogen input for the final deep clean.
50 Minutes In: Checking the tailpipe revealed that the exhaust gases had dried out, proving that the engine was now achieving highly efficient and complete combustion.
55 Minutes In: The exhaust pressure felt even more robust, perfectly steady, and healthy.
65 Minutes In: After 65 minutes of continuous treatment, we confirmed that the engine's idling, noise levels, and exhaust flow had completely stabilized. The engine refresh was a massive success, and we concluded the service.
