Customer Car Showcase: Toyota GR Yaris (G16E-GTS) Hydrogen Carbon Cleaning Service in Gunma

We recently had the pleasure of performing a comprehensive Hydrogen Carbon Cleaning on a customer's Toyota GR Yaris. With the odometer reading approximately 49,500 km, it was the perfect time for a high-performance engine refresh.


The Heart of the Beast: The G16E-GTS Engine

The GR Yaris is powered by Toyota’s legendary G16E-GTS engine—a 1,618cc inline 3-cylinder intercooled turbo powerhouse. This compact, high-spec engine is a marvel of modern engineering, delivering:

  • Max Output: 272 ps (200 kW) / 6,500 rpm

  • Max Torque: 37.7 kg・m (370 N・m) / 3,000–4,600 rpm

Equipped with the D-4ST (Direct injection 4-stroke gasoline engine Superior version with Turbo) system, this engine dominates the WRC and All-Japan Rally Championship.

Pre-Event Maintenance: Preparation for the Owners Meeting

This service was performed just one day before the "2026 GR Yaris Owners Meeting in Jibusaka Kogen Ski Resort." To ensure the vehicle stays in peak condition for years to come, we focused on a complete engine revitalization.

Given that this is a direct-injection engine, preventing fuel line issues is crucial. We utilized "FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER" to treat everything from the fuel lines to the injector tips simultaneously.


The Service Process

  1. Fuel System Treatment: We added the FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER directly into the fuel tank to dissolve deposits and protect the injectors.

  2. Initial Inspection: We conducted thorough checks of the engine sound, vibration levels, and exhaust output.

  3. Hydrogen Gas Injection: We began the carbon cleaning process at a conservative rate of 100 ml/h, gradually increasing the hydrogen flow while carefully monitoring the engine's real-time response.

[In-Service Impression: The Process] ↓↓↓


To ensure the FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER circulated thoroughly through the fuel lines, we performed a few controlled throttle blips. The idle gauge remained steady with no issues detected.


  • 5 Minutes In: Placing a hand near the exhaust tip, we began to feel a slight hint of moisture. The exhaust pressure and flow remained consistent and healthy. We began incrementally adjusting the hydrogen flow rate while monitoring the engine's real-time response.

  • 10 Minutes In: Visible water vapor started emitting from the exhaust—a clear sign that the hydrogen was reacting with the carbon deposits.

  • 20 Minutes In: A noticeable change occurred. Both engine noise and vibrations were significantly reduced. At this stage, we locked in the hydrogen input volume to maintain this optimal cleaning state.

  • 40 Minutes In: The exhaust flow felt much smoother against the hand compared to the start of the session. We tested the throttle once more to check the idle gauge; the needle dropped back to idle much more fluidly than before, indicating reduced internal friction.

  • 50 Minutes In: The moisture at the exhaust tip began to dry up, signaling that the primary cleaning phase was nearing completion. We continued fine-tuning the hydrogen input for the final stretch.

  • 60 Minutes In: After a full hour of treatment, the engine reached a perfect state of equilibrium. The idle stability, engine acoustics, and exhaust flow were all confirmed to be remarkably steady.


Service Complete. The G16E-GTS is now refreshed and ready for the road.
