Hydrogen Carbon Cleaning for Toyota GR Yaris (G16E-GTS) in Gifu, Japan

We recently had the pleasure of performing our premium Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning service on a customer's incredible Toyota GR Yaris in Gifu, Japan!
The vehicle’s current mileage stands at approximately 77,900 kilometers.
Under the hood sits Toyota's legendary G16E-GTS engine—a 1,618cc inline 3-cylinder intercooled turbo powerplant. This newly developed, compact, lightweight, and high-spec unit pushes out an impressive maximum output of 272 ps (200 kW) at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 37.7 kg·m (370 N·m) available between 3,000 and 4,600 rpm. Featuring advanced D-4ST technology (Direct & Port Fuel Injection System), the GR Yaris is world-renowned for its absolute dominance in the WRC (World Rally Championship) and All Japan Rally Championship.
This particular service was carried out at the [2026 GR Yaris Owners Meeting in Jibusaka Highlands Ski Resort]. The owner requested the service as a preventative engine refresh to ensure the high-performance powertrain remains in peak condition for years to come.
Since this car is equipped with a high-end EVENTURI carbon intake system, we carefully routed and secured our hydrogen injection hose through the bumper intake duct. Also, because the EVENTURI intake includes a built-in water drain hole midway through the piping, we made sure to temporarily seal it off to guarantee zero hydrogen gas leakage during the process.
After completing our meticulous pre-checks—including engine sound analysis, vibration monitoring, and exhaust flow inspection—we began injecting the hydrogen gas.
We started the process at a baseline rate of 100 L/h, closely monitoring the engine’s real-time condition as we gradually increased the hydrogen flow rate to its optimal level.

5 Minutes into the Service: Placing a hand near the exhaust tips, a slight amount of moisture can already be felt. When inspecting the exhaust pressure and flow, the pressure feels a bit weak, with a slight fluctuation in the flow rhythm. To assess this further, we gave the accelerator a quick blip. Looking at the tachometer (RPM gauge), as the needle drops back down, there is a minor, noticeable flutter right around the 2,000 RPM mark. We will continue the process while closely monitoring these specific symptoms. We are gradually adjusting the hydrogen flow rate to find the optimal balance for the engine's current state.
10 Minutes into the Service: Visible water vapor has begun to steadily exit the exhaust tips, a clear sign that the hydrogen is effectively bonding with carbon deposits inside the combustion chambers.
25 Minutes into the Service: A noticeable reduction in both engine noise and cabin vibration can be felt. The G16E-GTS engine is becoming significantly smoother. At this point, we locked in the hydrogen injection volume to maintain this highly effective state.
45 Minutes into the Service: Checking the exhaust tips once again, the initial weakness and fluctuation in exhaust pressure have been completely resolved. The exhaust flow is now incredibly smooth and consistent. We revved the engine once more to check the tachometer response—the needle flutter around 2,000 RPM that we noticed at the start is completely gone, and the RPMs drop down flawlessly and smoothly. We continue the treatment while fine-tuning the hydrogen levels.
55 Minutes into the Service: The heavy moisture at the exhaust outlet is beginning to dry up, indicating that the bulk of the internal carbon breakdown is nearing completion. We continue the final phase of the injection.
60 Minutes into the Service (Completion): After a full 60-minute session, we confirmed that the engine idle, sound, vibration, and exhaust flow have all completely stabilized into an optimal, refreshed condition. The carbon cleaning process is now successfully complete!
