Hello from Toyama! Today, we are excited to share a recent engine refresh service we performed on a customer's beloved Mazda CX-3.
This vehicle features Mazda’s pride and joy: the "SKYACTIV-D" clean diesel engine (S8-DPTS).
💡 Vehicle Specs & Customer Request
Model: Mazda CX-3
Engine: S8-DPTS (1,756cc Water-cooled Inline 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve Diesel Turbo)
Performance: Max Output 130ps / Max Torque 27.5kg・m
Current Odometer: Approx. 195,850 km
The owner brought the car to us with a clear goal: "Since the mileage is getting close to 200,000 km, I want to give the engine interior a thorough carbon cleaning."
High-mileage diesel vehicles are prone to carbon (soot) buildup, which can cause power loss, poor fuel economy, and dreaded DPF clogging. This service is a smart, preventive choice to keep this car running smoothly for years to come!
🛠️ The Service Breakdown
Considering the high mileage, we recommended a "Double Treatment" to clean both the combustion chamber and the fuel/exhaust system simultaneously.
1. Deepine Multi Cleaner Injection (Preventing DPF & EGR Clogging)
First, we treated the vehicle with "Deepine Multi Cleaner." This product is highly effective at preventing clogs in the DPF and EGR systems—common weak points in diesel vehicles—while cleaning everything from the fuel tank to the injector tips.
We measured the exact required amount and added it directly to the fuel tank. This will continuously clean and dissolve internal deposits as the customer drives.
2. Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning (Decarbonizing the Combustion Chamber)
Next up was the main event: the Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning.
Before starting, we meticulously checked the engine sound, vibrations, and exhaust condition. Once preparation was complete, we began introducing the hydrogen gas.
We never rush this process by blasting the engine with gas all at once. We start at a conservative flow rate of 100 ml/h, carefully monitoring the engine's real-time condition and gradually increasing the hydrogen intake to the optimal level.

🛠️ [In-Progress Impressions] Real-Time Carbon Cleaning Results
Initial Assessment: When we first started the service, we noticed significant engine vibration. To ensure the Deepine Multi Cleaner circulated quickly through the fuel lines, we revved the engine a few times. During this process, we closely monitored the tachometer and found a distinct needle flutter/hesitation as the RPMs dropped back down from around 3,000 rpm.
Timeline of the Treatment & Structural Diagnostics:
5 Minutes In: We felt a slight trace of moisture at the tailpipe. However, the exhaust pressure was weak, and there was a palpable stutter (interruption) in the exhaust flow. We proceeded with the cleaning to see how much these symptoms would improve.
10 Minutes In: Water vapor began visibly emitting from the exhaust, a clear sign that the hydrogen was binding with carbon deposits and turning into steam.
15 Minutes In: Physical water droplets started forming around the exhaust tip.
20 Minutes In: The rough engine noise and harsh vibrations began to noticeably subside. At this stage, we locked in the hydrogen gas flow rate to maintain steady decarbonization.
Diagnostic Note: Although the core engine vibration decreased, we detected a persistent vibration transferring to the radiator. This wasn't standard engine resonance, suggesting a separate minor mechanical factor (such as aging engine mounts). We made sure to explain this finding thoroughly to the customer for their future maintenance.
45 Minutes In: Placing a hand over the tailpipe confirmed that the weak pressure and stuttering flow observed at the beginning had drastically improved. The exhaust temperature had also risen, indicating that the accumulated carbon inside the combustion chamber was actively being burned off.
Tachometer Re-check: We revved the engine again. The needle flutter previously seen when dropping from 3,000 rpm was completely gone, and the RPMs returned to idle perfectly and smoothly.
55 Minutes In: The moisture at the exhaust tip began to dry up. The initial weak pressure and uneven exhaust flow were now almost entirely resolved.
65 Minutes In: We verified that the engine idle, sound, vibration, and exhaust flow had completely stabilized.
Service Completion: With the engine running smoother than it has in years, we officially concluded the treatment. We then handed over the remaining Deepine Multi Cleaner to the customer, along with detailed instructions on how to use it for continuous fuel and DPF system maintenance.

About Deepine Multi Cleaner Used in This Service: As you can see from the provided images, Deepine Multi Cleaner is highly effective for cleaning the fuel lines (including injectors), DPF, EGR, and EGR coolers—which are often the common weak points of clean diesel engines. While it comes with a slightly higher price tag, one bottle contains enough volume for two full treatments on standard-sized passenger vehicles. It is an excellent investment to prevent mechanical trouble and suppress DPF clogging before it happens!
【Post-Service Impressions & Wrap-up】No Post-Drive Feedback
This Time: Since we didn’t conduct a test drive together immediately after the service, we weren't able to gather the customer's direct driving impressions this time. We definitely look forward to hearing their feedback the next time they visit us!Advice Regarding the Radiator Vibration: As mentioned during the in-progress inspection, the persistent vibration transferring to the radiator does not appear to be an internal engine issue. For the owner's peace of mind, we highly recommended having it diagnosed at a certified dealer to check for other potential causes, such as worn structural mounts.
💡 Why Preventive Maintenance is Crucial for Clean Diesel EnginesWe frequently receive inquiries and service requests for Mazda’s SKYACTIV-D engines. In particular, once these vehicles pass the 70,000 km mark, many owners start worrying about their DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and fuel injectors.Modern clean diesel engines are equipped with DPFs to comply with strict emissions regulations. Additionally, many recent models utilize EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) systems to improve fuel economy and repurpose exhaust gases. While these systems are environmentally friendly, they inherently restrict exhaust efficiency, which tends to put a heavier load on the engine over time.
🛠️ How We Help You Avoid Costly RepairsTo tackle this issue, our shop offers Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning. This service effectively removes carbon buildup inside the combustion chambers, restores combustion and exhaust efficiency, and prevents heavy soot from traveling downstream into your exhaust components. For those concerned about their fuel lines (including injectors), DPF, and EGR systems, we highly recommend simultaneously applying our Multi Cleaner for a comprehensive flush. An Important Note on Timing: Once the DPF warning light turns on and the filter becomes completely clogged, the effectiveness of both hydrogen carbon cleaning and multi-cleaners drops significantly.Repairing or replacing a clogged DPF, EGR system, or faulty injectors can result in extremely expensive repair bills. We strongly encourage you to prioritize preventive maintenance before it reaches that point. Show your car some love, and it will reward you with reliability!
