Hydrogen Carbon Cleaning for Mazda CX-3 (SKYACTIV-D / S8-DPTS) in Shimane

We recently had the pleasure of performing a hydrogen gas carbon cleaning service on a customer's vehicle here in Shimane Prefecture.

Model: Mazda CX-3
Engine: SKYACTIV-D S8-DPTS Type / 1,756 cc Water-Cooled Inline 4-Cylinder DOHC 16-Valve Diesel Turbo Engine
Current Mileage: Approx. 145,000 km
Max Output: 130 ps (95 kW) @ 4,000 rpm
Max Torque: 27.5 kg·m (270 N·m) @ 1,600–2,600 rpm
This vehicle features Mazda’s proud SKYACTIV diesel technology.
As the mileage on this CX-3 reached around 145,000 km, the owner noticed that the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) regeneration cycle was becoming noticeably shorter. To restore engine performance and responsiveness, the customer requested our Hydrogen Gas Carbon Cleaning Service for a full engine refresh.
Additionally, for long-term maintenance and preventative care—covering everything from the fuel tank and injector tips to preventing clogs in the DPF and EGR valve—we also performed a treatment using Deepine Multi-Cleaner.
First, we accurately measured the specified dosage of Deepine Multi-Cleaner and added it directly into the fuel tank.
After completing initial safety checks—including engine noise, idle vibration, and exhaust gas conditions—we began injecting the hydrogen gas.
We started at an initial flow rate of 100 ml/h, carefully monitoring the engine's response and parameters while gradually increasing the hydrogen output.

To help the Deepine Multi-Cleaner circulate more quickly throughout the system, we blipped the throttle a few times.
While doing so, we checked the tachometer and noticed that the needle flickered slightly as it dropped from around 2,500 rpm down to idle.
5 Minutes In: Checking the exhaust tailpipe by hand, a slight amount of moisture was detected. The exhaust pressure felt a bit weak, and the exhaust flow showed irregular pulsations. We proceeded with the carbon cleaning process, gradually adjusting the hydrogen injection rate while monitoring how these symptoms would improve.
10 Minutes In: Steam began to emerge from the exhaust tip.
15 Minutes In: Water droplets started forming at the exhaust outlet.
20 Minutes In: Engine noise and vibration noticeably decreased. We locked in the hydrogen injection rate to maintain this optimal treatment state.
40 Minutes In: Checking the exhaust tailpipe again, the previously weak exhaust pressure and pulsing flow had improved significantly. The exhaust gas temperature also rose, indicating that carbon combustion and decarbonization were actively progressing. We blipped the throttle once more to check the tachometer: the needle drop from 2,500 rpm—which previously flickered—was now much smoother, and the idle return had normalized. We continued the treatment with further fine adjustments to the hydrogen flow.
55 Minutes In: The moisture around the exhaust tip began to dry out.
65 Minutes In: After making final adjustments to the hydrogen injection rate, we confirmed that the idling state, engine noise, vibration, and exhaust behavior were all fully stabilized.
With these results achieved, the hydrogen carbon cleaning process was successfully completed. The remaining Deepine Multi-Cleaner was handed over to the customer along with a clear explanation of how to use it for future maintenance.
